How to Participate

Del Mar High School offers a full comprehensive athletic program consisting of three seasons, fall, winter, and spring. Please see click the links for the sports teams that are offered and under which season. Try-outs vary depending on the sport and season. Contact the athletic director by calling the school at 408-626-3403 to find out tryout dates for a particular sports. 

Registering for a Sport

If a student wants to try out for a sport, the first thing that their parent/guardian need to do is to register them at the following web site:
This registration process will provide you with all of the instructions and paperwork needed in order for a student to participate in a sport. It will include contacts, expectations, Athletic Participation Form, the Physical Exam Form, Concussion Awareness Form, Bus Release Form, Volunteer Parent Driver Information, Code of Conduct and much more. is a new service that organizes all of this information for our coaches. If you do not have access to the internet, you can pick up the information packet containing everything mentioned above in the main office.

Title IX Gender Equity in Education, Athletics, Activities

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law prohibiting gender discrimination in any school
receiving federal funds. The text of the law states:
“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance….”
