About Me

My name is Jessica Olamit and I am the International Baccalaureate Coordinator at Del Mar High School. I also teach one section of Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID).  Additionally, I am the advisor for the World Scholar's Club.

I attended UC San Diego as an undergrad with a major in history and a minor in education. I received my Masters in Education from UC Santa Cruz.

Outside of school I love reading, cooking and baking, playing softball, going to the beach, and spending time with my family. I also love hiking with my dog, Bruce. He is the cutest golden retriever in the entire world.

The aspect of my job that I enjoy the most is assisting students and their families with finding the academic pathway that is the best fit for them. I am very proud of all the options and opportunities Del Mar offers and I love to see what sparks an interest in students. I am also passionate about helping students find the best fit college for them after they graduate. It is important to me that students attend a college or university where they will be happy and thrive after high school.

I became a teacher for the money. Just kidding. : ) I became a teacher because I was raised to always give back to others and my community. My parents taught me that it is my responsibility to help make this world a better place and I believe that public education is one of the most powerful ways to improve people's lives. I can't imagine doing anything else!
