My name is Tori Waite and I have taught at Del Mar since 2014 and started teaching in 2008. I have taught in California as well as Boston,MA. I loved in Boston for 9 years, but I grew up here in the Bay Area. I have learned the skills to be a teacher over many year and in different ways. I served in an AmeriCorps Program called City Year where, I helped elementary school students learn to read and help in classrooms. I earned my Bachelors of Arts degree from The New College of San Francisco as I worked as an after school program director for middle school students. Finally, I got my Masters in Education from University of Massachusetts Boston to teach History to high school students.
Not only do I love to learn in school, but I also like to learn by doing interesting things. My favorite things include reading, baking, and hanging out with my family. This year I have many goals I hope to achieve as your teacher as well as a person outside of Del Mar’s walls! I want to work hard to build strong relationships with all of my students- even when it is a struggle. I hope to have fun with my family and spend quality time with my husband and 2 sons. Hopefully, it will make me a better teacher and mom! Please share with me what you feel like you have accomplished in school and what goals you have for this school year,as well as after high school!
