About Mr. Burkhead

Mr. Burkhead holds a B.A in Music Education from CSU, Chico and a M.A. in Conducting from the American Band College at Southern Oregon University.  In addition to his activities at DMHS, he is the founding conductor of the Campbell Express Band.  He is on the board for the Northern California Band Association and serves as the webmaster and an adjudicator.

 

He is a strong believer that ALL students benefit greatly from an education in the Performing Arts.  It is in exploring the avenues of creativity that we most fully engage our humanity to become the problem-solving leaders the world needs.

 

When not working with students in the performing arts, Mr. Burkhead is a frequent participant at the Broadway Teacher's Workshop in NYC.  He also greatly enjoys traveling and will soon be taking a group of singers to Dublin, Ireland for an international choral festival, followed by a much anticipated time exploring the British Isles.

 

Mr. Burkhead has been at Del Mar since August, 2000.
