Mrs. Salinas - Art Department Chair

Hello and Welcome to my Page!

I have a BA in Fine Arts with an emphasis in Photography & Sculpture. After college, I worked as a professional photographer for 10 years before becoming a teacher. I focused on Portraits & Weddings. I first came to Del Mar in 1999, my first teaching job and I have loved this school ever since. I started off teaching traditional dark room photography and 3D art. I focused on 3D art for many years before pioneering the Digital Photo program at the CUHSD. We started our first Digital Photo class around 2007.

I am a passionate photographer! My style of choice is Light Painting Photography. I bring these techniques into my classes and share my passions with my students. You can view some of my work in my gallery. I am a working artists, as well as a teacher.

I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, even when I was in high school. After college, I felt it was important to get some practical experience working in the photography industry. Thus, I worked full time for 10 years and then went back to get my teaching credential in 1999. I maintained a part time photography business for many years.

I always tell my kids that it is okay to FAIL....it is your First Attempt In Learning!
