College Map

College MAP (Mentoring for Access and Persistence) is an Ernst & Young LLP signature volunteer program focused on helping underserved high school students navigate the college admissions process and build the skills and confidence they need to succeed in their post-secondary journey. This program started at Del Mar in the fall of 2013. It's a two year program that starts in the students junior year and continues through graduation. The students meet once per month for two hours after school with their team of mentors from EY's downtown San Jose office.

The curriculum consists of college admissions information, financial aid awareness, and career readiness information. The students go on tours of local colleges twice during the junior year.   There are also two summer field trips that students can attend as well.

After a student has completed the program, he/she will have developed the following skills:

  • Awareness of the lifelong benefits of getting a higher education
  • Financial readiness that helps students apply for aid and pay for college
  • Persistence skills to help students complete a degree and succeed in careers
The application period to apply for the program runs in March/April during a student's sophomore year. Students must be on track to attend a four year university to apply. The program seeks students who will be the first in their family to attend college.
